CASIRAS – Center for Advanced Study in Religion and Science

CASIRAS

Center for Advanced Study in Religion and Science

Founded in 1965 by Ralph Wendell Burhoe, winner of the 1980 Templeton Prize, CASIRAS is an independent organization of scientists and theologians incorporated under IRS section 501 (c) (3), section 509 (a) (3). CASIRAS supports the Zygon Center for Religion and Science (in partnership with the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago) and co-publishes Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science (in partnership with the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science).

CASIRAS is a supporting organization whose supported organizations develop curricula, study programs and other means of establishing the integration of scientific views of people and their world with the convictions by which people make their fundamental decisions; thereby to revitalize and universalize the long-evolving wisdom and power inherent in the religious dimension of culture; to sponsor and conduct meetings, conferences, seminars and lecture programs; to communicate the results of the Corporation’s activities through scholarly and popular journals, books, works of creative artists, and mass media; and to publish scholarly journals.
